FSSAI Registration/License

FSSAI Registration/License

A licence from the FSSAI, or Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, is a requirement for an organisation to sell food on the open market. As per the FSSAI’s online web page, any food manufacturing operator who produces, processes, warehouses, distributes, or sells food is required to file for and retain an FSSAI registration. As a result, the FSSAI’s reach extends beyond restaurants.

An FSSAI licence is not just a legal document but also a mark of superior food quality. You receive a personal 14-digit registration number when you enrol with the FSSAI.

A licence will be given to your institution based on the scope of your activity. This serves as the particular licence number for your establishment.

Authorization for the FSSAI License

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India established the standalone FSSAI to grant FSSAI registrations and licences. To safeguard people from any food-related products, it was established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (FSSA Act, 2016), a single statute connected to food safety and control in India.

Obtaining FSSAI registration for your foodservice industry will show clients that your product is of the highest and best quality because FSSAI is mainly in charge of the safeguarding and promotion of public health through its essential functions of food safety monitoring and regulation.

How Can I Obtain an FSSAI Licence?

A new online application procedure known as the FLRS has been introduced by the FSSAI (Food Licensing and Registration System). Customers can now apply for a licence and check their qualification online, thanks to FLRS.

To make absolutely sure that the registration and licence are renewed on time, it also automatically emails and texts reminders to business owners.

So, you could contact the FSSAI food licence consultant, ComplianceBuddy, if you have questions about how to obtain a food licence and registration from FSSAI, which further provides assistance with food licence renewal.

Different FSSAI Licence

FSSAI Central License

The Central Government mandates that food business operators (FBOs) obtain a central food licence. Only after a state has been operational for over a month is a central food licence legitimate. The national offices are all covered by the central licence, which is thus only applicable to the central office.

There are multiple factors which decided whether the state license or central license is required like- nature of business, size of business, types of food services provided, star rating of hotels, etc. Restaurants business, retailer of food, food distributors, etc with an annual turnover of more than Rs 20 crore are eligible to receive a central license. The Central License may be used to renew a food license and has a maximum term of 5 years as well as a minimum term of 1 year.

FSSAI State License

Small to moderate restaurants as mentioned in above para are expected to get FSSAI state permits. The state government of the jurisdiction in which the company plans to open a restaurant issues this license. This means that a Food Dhabas, home base kitchens, PG facility providers, food stallers and similar food vendors having an annual turnover of more than Rs 12 Lakhs must obtain a state license with a duration of 1 to 5 years if its yearly revenue is more than Rs 12 lakhs.

Start upgrading your state FOSCO registration as well as your FSSAI food licence, which are both necessary for recertification and registration.

Basic FSSAI Registration
